Tung is a senior training specialist. He conducts fundamental, intermediate, and advanced corporate credit seminars, with a particular emphasis on Moody’s ratings and analytical methodologies, corporate finance, and special industry courses. He was previously a Director at Edmond de Rothschild (Suisse) S.A., Hong Kong Branch in charge of Client Relationship Management and provided investment solution for high net worth clients. Prior to that, Tung was a Vice President-Senior Credit Analyst with the Risk Management and Credit department at Nomura in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for managing the credit risk of the company’s Greater China portfolio.
Prior to joining Nomura in 2008, Tung served in the Corporate Finance Group of Moody’s Investors Service in New York as an associate analyst with responsibility for the ratings of high yield companies in the media, printing and publishing sector. Tung also worked on various projects with the Chief Credit Officer of Moody’s to improve rating transparency and consistency. Before joining Moody’s, Tung held various positions at Bank of China Hong Kong, where he was responsible for commercial lending, credit analysis, and distressed loan portfolio management.
Tung has an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance and Accounting from the University of Rochester, an M.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Law Degree from Peking University. He speaks English, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese Chinese and is a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Institute and the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA).
Barnard Helman (Barney), is an experienced trainer able to craft and deliver courses globally, from fundamental to advanced, on a wide variety of credit risk analysis topics --including banks, insurance firms and non-banks financial institutions, as well as non-financial corporates. Barney delivers courses virtually but is also happy to travel from his Tokyo base to deliver training in person.
Barney has delivered and crafted public courses in Asia Pacific for over a decade for all levels of credit analysis for non-financial corporates as well as for banks and non-banks, particularly insurance firms. In addition, Barney has helped develop and deliver tailored training programs for large regional and global banks that addressed specific training needs throughout wide skill and experience levels across numerous regions—though recently training has been delivered virtually.
Barney graduated from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and then attended graduate school in accounting at NYU, and the Global Masters of Arts Program at the Fletcher School of Tufts University. He started off his finance career in accounting at a Big 4 firm in New York before moving to banking, working at the headquarters of the Long-Term Credit Bank in Japan, followed by credit risk management and front office roles at First Chicago in Tokyo and New York, and then a senior risk management role at Citigroup in New York. Barney moved to the buy-side in Hong Kong for Abbey National. Returning to Tokyo Barney worked as an editor for the ADB Institute before starting in training since 2011, first at Fitch and then at Moody’s. This wealth of experience informs his training.
Bill provides a variety of training for corporate banking. He is also the External Examiner for two banking related programs of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE).
He is the pioneer in applying Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mobile Game (MG) technologies in training solutions and has designed the first two qualified IA CPD and SFC CPT training courses in the banking industry using VR, AR and MG technologies.
Bill has 19 years in-house training experience for Corporate Banking personnel at Bank of China (HK) and Hang Seng Bank. He designed, developed and delivered strategic human capital training solutions ranging from curriculum design, learning model development, program implementation and training delivery. He specializes in interactive and highly practical training, particularly in Corporate Selling Skills, Relationship Building Skill, Factory Visit Skill, Lending and Credit Analysis, Trade and Receivables Finance.
With 22 years of experience in corporate banking at various commercial banks (including 5 years as a Senior Relationship Manager and 10 years as a Section Head), Bill has extensive experience in evaluating investments in power plants and energy infrastructure in mainland China, structuring credit facilities, and managing client relationship of various sizes and complexity.
